Onion , the herbal cure for colds
The common onion has been known for many years for medicinal remedies , and is often overlooked .
This is mainly because of the great many of knowledgeless practicioners , simply choosing foods with a strong taste , and declaring that they have medicinal research or any real basis in fact, or trial.
A great many years ago , I was told by a white with that to put an onion in each corner of the room , will cure a common cold . This is not something I believe in and would not recommend to any serious user .
Although I do have a potion of my own for the treatment of the common cold and for the treatment of the flu, perhaps even chicken and swine flu , who knows!!
It is basically a hot onion soup.
You need …fresh thyme , sage ,4 onions.
In a small pan boil a small ammount of water , about a teacupful , and mash acouple of sprigs of thyme and sage in a pestle , add this to the boiling water and keep very hot before the boil for 5 minutes , do not let the mixture boil.
Peel and chop the onion and drop them in a pan of boiling water , enough to cover them , for about 5 minutes , until they are soft . Remove from heat , and take the first sage and thyme mixture and strain with a tea strainer into the onion soup mix.
When cooler , take a large helping as hot as you can manage , and eat quite quickly , this will make you sweat!!
This will clear the congestion, and ease the chest, and somehow speeds the cold on its way.
Three of these are pretty much all you need , it has helped me tremendously over the years .Enjoy!
Let me know how you get on below …..
